Baby Girl!!

Although we have not made an official blog announcement (simply because I am not very good at keeping up), we are expecting our precious baby girl very soon. As surprised as we both were, we are now equally if not more excited to meet her!
Last weekend I went back to Michigan for a shower with 40 of our closest friends and family.

One of my favorite people in the world, my grandma, and my Aunt Sue drove up from Indiana. I was so glad that they were there!

The term "barefoot and pregnant" didn't come from nowhere! That is when I am happiest!! (The barefoot part-not the pregnant)

This was my post party activity! My mom mentioned something about throwing out the rest of the cake...I just couldn't let that happen!!

April 7th is the big day...I can't wait to post pictures of her!

Keeping up with the Smith's

I realize that it has been quite sometime since I have posted anything, so I am going to attempt to make up for lost time. There has been SO much (as usually) going on. Jeff and I finished our summer with 3 wonderful trips. First, we spent a long weekend up in Deer Valley (it started out as a normal weekend, and we were having such a good time, we stayed an additional night). Then we spent the next long weekend in Southern Utah and Vegas. To wrap up the month we traveled home to Michigan to see the fam.

This is a view of Jordanelle from up in Deer Valley. Jeff has his serious hiking face on, but it was easy. It has been amazing to discover the area, that we now call "home", together.

Just before we began our decent in Zion National Park at the Emerld Pools... and I know that it is blurry!! In theory, this picture was supposed to be great. I am not sure if the man that took it was blind, but this was the best of 2=)

And the final stop on the August tour bus...I great week in Michigan. I couldn't have been happier that Jeff and I were able to attend his Dad's retirement party. Congratuations John!! To top it off, we spent an entire day tailgating and watching the UTES put a beating on the Wolverines!! Can you see the score?? It was a little rough in the second half, but we pulled it out.

I guess that leads me to my next point. Yesterday was the first official day of the 2008/09 basketball season. It was slightly anti-climatic without any type of Midnight Madness celebration, but I really couldn't be more excited (although ask me again in a month or 2). I am looking forward to a tough, competitive, successful season ! I couldn't be more proud of the progress that they have made! GO UTES!!

Honeymoon!

I don't think that we really could have asked for a better week.

Everyone has been asking for details and pics of our honeymoon to Paradise Island in the Bahamas! Although I am not so willing to cough up a lot of the details, I will share some picutres!

Out of the 8 days that we were there, 7 of them were spend at the pool, soaking up the sun and drinking bucket after bucket of Coronnas. One afternoon, we decided to take the water ferry from Paradise Island to downtown Nassau. Jeff was trying to help me shop! He looks like a lot of help, huh? Maybe one too many Goombay Smashes at lunch!

Thanks to JR. our driver for the week (not quite sure how we ended up with a driver...), we have discovered only the most fabulous bar, maybe of all time! It is called the Green Parrot. This is view from the dining area, which, might I add had a sand floor. It was actually at the Green Parrot that Jeff and I contemplated the idea of him selling bait for a living and me braiding hair, so that we never had to leave.

One of the 3 nights that we were there, we were lucky enough to catch the sunset.

It is almost too beautiful to be real!!

WHAT A VIEW??!! This was from our room--the whole place was amazing!!

The second night we were on a mission to find a place to eat and watch the Pistons game. On this particular night, America's Team lost by 25 to Philly, but not all was lost. We ordered dinner which came with two sides of your choice. THere was a long list to choose from, but I saw the word Macaroni and I was sold. I ordered a double. A few minutes later the owner of the restaurant broke the news to me--they were out of Bohemian Mac and Cheese. Although I was extremely upset, he told me that if we came back later in the week, that he promised that there would be some. I waited all week...

Well to make a long story short=) the Bahamian style mac and cheese is my new favorite thing. Here is the recipe...

Bahamian Macaroni and Cheese

8 oz elbow macaroni, cooked

1 tbl onion, finely chopped

1 tbl green pepper

1 can evaporated milk

1 tbl celery, finely chopped

6 oz Cheddar cheese

1 dsh pepper

salt to taste

Method: Add the onion, green pepper and celery to the macaroni; stir. Add one half of the cheese and stir over low heat until melted. Season and stir in evaporated milk. Spoon into a well greased baking pan and sprinkle remaining cheese evenly over the top. Bake in a preheated oven at 350:F for 20 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes and cut into squares to serve.

Enjoy!!

What a Cool Thing!!!

So I am so excited that I have been introduced into the wonderful world of blogging (is that even an accurate term, I don't know-but I will learn). My friend, Sally had her 1st baby last night. This morning on her blog there were pictures and a little story about the day, the baby, Maycee Jane, and how she is doing. A blog!! What a fabulous idea.

This year has been somewhat difficult with our big move and all, so today I was thinking, a blog...what a wonderful way for us to keep our friends and family up to date on what is going on in our lives! I am sure that this is a thought that several hundreds of thousands of people have had, but it is new to me so just play along!

Thank you for visiting if anyone is!! A blog!! Yesss!
